  1. Please join us in San Francisco at the INFORMS National Meeting (November 13 to 16) for the Applied Probability Society (APS) sessions that will be held there. The following link provides the full APS track: http://appliedprob.society.informs.org/sessions/INFORMS_NewOrleans.doc

  2. The Applied Probability Society is pleased to announce that Avi Mandelbaum will give the inaugural Markov Lecture in Applied Probability at the San Francisco meeting; Ger Koole and Marty Reiman will act as discussants. The concept of an honorary lecture was proposed and passed at the recent APS Business Meeting in Ottawa, Canada, and the APS Council and Prize Committee recently voted to name the lecture in honor of Markov’s contributions to our field. Professor Mandelbaum will give a survey of his recent work on “quality and efficiency driven queues” and its application to call center management. Subsequent to the meeting, the slides for the talk will be made available on the APS website.

  3. The APS Business Meeting will be held on Monday evening, November 14th, at 6 PM, as part of the INFORMS National Meeting.

  4. The Applied Probability Society has negotiated a special reduced subscription rate of  $100 per year for Queueing Systems: Theory and Applications (reduced from $250).
